Horse riding in Maremma Tuscany

Highlights

Civitatours takes you for a relaxing ride on horseback to discover the natural beauty of Tuscany. Let yourself be enchanted by the flora and fauna that characterize the Uccellina Natural Park, a unique experience that will make you live unforgettable moments.

We propose two types of excursion to ride through the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany: one recommended for beginners lasting 2 hours and one for experts lasting 4 hours.

Horse riding is a fun and enjoyable way to spend some time in full contact with nature. Civitatours will take you horse riding to discover the natural beauty and landscape of the Maremma. We also offer you the chance to taste the typical dishes of the Maremma tradition with our “Benvenuto Bio” menu at the Agriturismo’s restaurant.

The equestrian centre enjoys an excellent location, situated 5 km from Alberese, close to the sea (only 9 km from the beaches) and bordering on the Parco dell’Uccellina, a wonderful naturalistic attraction in Tuscany. It is close to Grosseto (15 minutes by car) and only 35 minutes from Porto Ercole and Porto Santo Stefano.

You can ride Maremma horses. The riding stables are distinguished by the passion their managers have for introducing their clients to this enchanting part of Tuscany, which is home to such treasures as the Parco dell’Uccellina. Given the proximity of the stables, it will be possible to ride immediately to discover the fauna and flora.

The natural landscape of the park is characterised by a variety of ecosystems where an incredible number of plant and animal species find their ideal habitat: the dunes, the Mediterranean maquis, the holm-oak woods and the pinewoods, right up to the wetlands.

The forest vegetation is rather heterogeneous, characterised by holm oaks, which are the dominant species, together with lilac, cobezzolo, mastic tree and viburnum. Simply a perfect are to horse riding in Maremma!

There are three species of wild animals in the Maremma Park: wild boar, roe deer and fallow deer. Common mammals include the fox, badger, beech marten, porcupine and European hare, as well as several species of micro mammals.

The Maremma Park is home to more than 270 species of birds and the wetlands are an important wintering area for many species of water birds.

The presence of man since the Palaeolithic era is testified by the many historical and archaeological sites: the caves, the remains of various Roman eras, the medieval buildings of the watch towers and the imposing Benedictine abbey of San Rabano.
