Travelling with Civitatours is perfectly in line with sustainable tourism development. Sustainable tourism and at the right price !
Civitatours proposes tours and excursions suitable for people of all ages, in direct relation with the specificities of the territories visited. Travelling and eating sustainably, organically and at the right price is one of Civitatours’ main concerns. We offer a combination of well-being, freedom, communion with nature and conservation of the environment in our turistic offers.
Monte Argentario Tuscany
Thus, during a stay in Monte Argentario in Tuscany, you can practice various activities at sea. Civitatours proposes for example: a boat trip or an excursion to Monte Argentario. Monte Argentario is located in a natural park, a protected reserve in a magnificent setting! You can take a
boat trip from Porto Santo Stefano or Porto Ercole, the latter still being a traditional fishing village with its colourful buildings and boats in the harbour, where most tourists gather for its lovely atmosphere. We can organise an enchanting trip on one of our sailboats, offering you lunch or an
aperitif while watching an enchanting sunset in a unique natural setting!
The sea air, the spray and the seawater provide the lungs with a natural supply of calcium, iodine, magnesium, sodium chloride, silicium and potassium. Not forgetting the sun, which gives your body a beautiful golden colour while you stock up on well-being and vitamin D!
Sustainable tourism and at the right price
Monte Argentario offers us wide open spaces and the landscapes seen from the sea are splendid. The sunrise or sunset over these lands and the infinity of the horizon regenerate us, swimming among the fish, the smells and the lapping of the waves are the best natural anti-stress and will
allow you to free your mind.
For the traveller, having the opportunity to evolve on the sea, through a boat trip in an environmentally protected area, can ‘prove to be the bearer of a reverie that, can’ accompany us in a reflection on our origins, rediscover the relationship with nature itself and that forgotten relationship with it. This is how one might experience this area of Monte Argentario. Monte Argentario is located in the south of the Tuscan coast, in the province of Grosseto. The Monte Argentario peninsula is very popular with Tuscan tourists, in fact it has an exceptional environment: it is situated between two long strips of sand, called called “tomboli”, in the heart of the Orbetello lagoon. In the neighbouring countryside of the Tuscan Maremma, known as the Parco dell’Uccellina, you will find other horizons: wild beaches, marshy areas, dunes and pine forests… A true paradise for migratory birds, foxes, porcupines and turtles. A natural and cultural heritage represented by the magnificent Genoese and Medicean watchtowers. In this natural environment, hiking or trekking, which are more physical, will be promoted by Civitatours so that you can enjoy magnificent days.
Travelling with Civitatours is perfectly in line with a sustainable approach to the territories visited and allows the traveller to practice our activities (walking, hiking, tours, golf, horse-riding, organic wine tasting) in a preserved environment, to (re)discover nature and to immerse himself, step by
step, in the heart of biodiversity, the living part of nature, all while taking advantage of breathtaking, landscapes: this is what we mean by eco-tourism. Organic travel and nutrition is our philosophy, and of course all at the right price! Health and well-being are intertwined with our joyful journeys, discovering new horizons in communion with nature, history and art of the places we visit, all while respecting the conservation of the environment, popular cultures and biodiversity. That’s how we work.
Slow down with Civitatours! How to rediscover the meaning and excitement of a stay
Sustainable tourism and at the right price
Aware that we live in strange times, where time – which we constantly fill with a thousand things – seems to shrink and escape us, Civitatours incorporates into the heart of its tours and stays the compelling need for some of us to feel the distinction between activity and rest, between speed and slowness. For the modern traveller, it’s a question of rhythm. For Civitatours, travelling slowly, taking walks, going on trips and taking the time to observe nature and a work of art are all ways of feeling really good and fulfilled! What’s more, by taking advantage of the routes designed by Civitatours, you can catch your breath. In these times when we have so little time to discover our planet, “slow tourism” is for us one of the solutions and a way of travelling for a healthier tourism and protector of our environment and our cities of art so badly damaged by uncontrolled and unlimited tourism. By travelling in a more ecological and responsible way, reducing your movements and favouring non-polluting transport; by train, eco-bus, sailing boat, horseback, bicycle, electric bike or on foot, you will discover sites that are often impossible to reach by car!
And by taking advantage of Civitatours’ good recommendations, you’ll be able to discover the healthy and naturally organic cuisine of Tuscany!
…” Daniel: I had lunch a few days ago in this restaurant proposed by Civitatours at Argentario in Tuscany, and I was very pleasantly surprised: variety of menus and prices, creative and traditional cuisine, a complete and beautiful wine list, exceptional value for money, discreet and efficient service, a large room with a terrace, sufficiently spaced tables and exceptional cleanliness, including the toilets! And of course I had this lunch on a farm in the middle of nature! For tourists and travellers, I highly recommend this restaurant (I’m not advertising the restaurant here, but I am advertising Civitatours… ) where you can still taste traditional Tuscan cuisine that is objectively organic and very tasty! I didn’t dare to ask to meet the chef because I thought he was very busy, but I came back here afterwards to congratulate him… “
Do you want to discover the riches of other cultures? Then Rome is for you! The Eternal City
Sustainable tourism and at the right price
Civitatours offers you alternative solutions to the traditional way of visiting Rome. Tourism, as we understand it, is a journey of discovery and pleasure. We propose carefully selected structures, based on our personal experience, we avoid proposing standardised services to our clients. Our
vocation today is simple to explain: it is ecotourism, i.e. enhancing an area, combining the reception of visitors through the quality of services and making them discover monuments, cathedrals and sublime squares of Rome, the Rome of the past and present in a way that preserves and respects its identity and its artistic and cultural heritage. Rome, the eternal city, is visited by millions of tourists from all over the world and today we have a great challenge in front of us, that of preserving this patrimony for future generations. We propose two ways to visit Rome: “Rome the Eternal City” and “Rome vineyards and castles”.
Rome, the eternal city
Here is one of our itineraries that you will surely appreciate: the “Classic Rome” tour is a tour that will let you discover the splendours of the Eternal City. The tour starts on foot from St. Peter’s Square with its magnificent colonnade and the majestic St. Peter’s Basilica, which can be accessed quickly but only with a ticket booked by us to avoid exhausting queues. After the wonders of St. Peter’s we will visit with a panoramic tour with our anti-pollution bus: Isola Tiberina, Piramide Cestia, Terme di Caracalla. Then on foot: Colosseum, Altar of the Fatherland, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona.
Choosing Civitatours means choosing to combine tourism and meeting people
Sustainable tourism and at the right price
This is our way of making you meet new friends and taking care of your time. You will have the opportunity to stop in unusual places in Rome, to meet the “locals” to understand their daily way of life and to immerse yourself in their way of life; to exchange ideas easily and naturally, to share their and your experiences, to have a real point of view on their habitat in Rome, so many possibilities to enrich your trip; taking care of your time will allow the traveler to de-stress, and thus to reset and regulate his biological rhythm that has been severely put under pressure throughout the
year.
… “Jason and Michaele: who doesn’t love a good sunset?! In Rome, our most beautiful sunset was from the belvedere of the Pincio hill, at the western end of the Villa Borghese park. It is very easy to get there. From one of the terraces, the Piazza del Popolo stretches out at your feet. Two twin churches guard the entrance to the square, Santa Maria dei Miracoli and Santa Maria in Montesanto. In the centre, the Egyptian obelisk, framed by four fountains, watches over the place. By the way, you can do as we do and buy a sandwich and enjoy it while you watch the night
descend on the city. This place is very popular all day long with travellers and photographers. We, however, preferred to look for a quieter place to enjoy the view. We advise you to arrive early so that you can choose a place you like, because otherwise, when the time comes, you probably won’t have a front row seat…”.
Treat yourself to a Roman holiday by choosing your own personalised itinerary: Rome in freedom. The itinerary “Rome in freedom” of Civitatours has been designed to meet the needs of those who want to experience a personalized tour, choosing to visit the places that correspond to their interests. Here is the itinerary that we suggest: Start walking from Via Lungotevere Marzio Zanardelli, where you can begin your visit in peace and quiet, once there, you can head north to reach the Vatican in 15 minutes or the city centre in 10 minutes. If you cross the Umberto I bridge, located in front of the Palace of Justice, also known as the Palazzaccio, you can walk along the fortress of Castel Sant’Angelo. If you continue towards Via della Conciliazione you will arrive at St. Peter’s Basilica, which is located in the centre of the square designed by Bernini. Here you can admire the famous obelisk of the Vatican and the beautiful fountains by Bernini (1675) and Maderno (1614). From the point of arrival in Via Lungotevere Marzio Zanardelli, you can also head towards the famous Piazza Navona to contemplate Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers, Giacomo della Porta’s Fountain of the Moor and Gregorio Zappalà and Antonio della Bitta’s Fountain of Neptune. From Piazza Navona continue to the Pantheon, the great temple in Piazza della Rotonda, where important historical figures such as Raphael and two kings of Italy, Victor Emmanuel II and Umberto I, are buried. Once you’ve left the Pantheon, head first to the Trevi Fountain and then to the Spanish Steps to take photos in front of the famous Spanish Steps and then do some shopping in the boutiques on Via Condotti, Via Frattina and Via del Babbuino. Once you have left the Pantheon, you can also choose an alternative route by reaching Piazza Venezia to admire the Altare della Patria and the Colosseum at the end of Via Fori Imperiali.
Sustainable tourism and at the right price
Take advantage of the good places selected by Civitatours to book a restaurant and savour the traditional and naturally organic cuisine of Rome. Let yourself be guided by Civitatours in Rome and take advantage of the tours and itineraries we recommend to redefine your tourist priorities, forget the clock completely, change your pace, know that Rome is crossed by travellers from all over the world at an accelerated pace, so just let Civitatours invite you to make Rome a real “dream park” by combining quality of visits with well-being and fun!
Rome’s vineyards and castles
Tastings accompanied by walks in the vineyards and visits to historic castles is the other way to discover Rome! Ancient villages, stately villas, medieval castles and archaeological remains enliven the Castelli Romani Regional Park in the province of Rome. Lying in the Albani hills, in the past it was the favourite holiday resort of the capital’s aristocratic families and the popes. Today, with its 9 500 hectares of protected land, it is home to numerous animal species, such as badgers, martens, peregrine falcons, porcupines, and above all the wolf, which plays a fundamental role in this
ecosystem. Roman viticulture has its roots in Greek and Etruscan culture. The Romans knew the techniques for growing vines and making wine, having learned them from the Etruscans, Greeks and Carthaginians. In fact, already at the time of the Etruscans, around the 5th century BC, the Italian peninsula was known as “Enotria”, i.e. wine producer. We accompany you on a discovery of wine cellars and organic farms. The idea is for you to discover wines in combination with quality local produce and the cuisine of the Roman countryside.
Thinking about tourism today to preserve Italy’s cities of art
Tourists can make people’s daily lives in some cities very difficult. Some of them do not hesitate to vandalise historical monuments, such as the visitor who carved his name on the stones of the Colosseum in Rome. This building, to the east of the Roman Forum, the Colosseum took shape between 70 and 72 AD under Emperor Vespasian, and was completed in 80 under Titus.
Civitatours is aware of these issues and contributes to the conservation of the environment, the ecosystem and biodiversity. Civitatours conceives tourism in a sustainable way where the traveller is an eco-traveller in search of cultural, artistic, culinary and natural initiations all in a joyful spirit. Sustainable tourism and at the right price.
Civitatours will have you visit Rome on their unforgettable walking tour, with a guide will be a memorable day
I couldn’t believe that I was finally going to live my dream vacation with Mark. Visit Rome Italy, we booked a stop over in Rome from Civitavecchia for a day tour. The Classical Rome tour with Civitatours. There were many Rome tour packages and itineraries to visit Rome to choose from but between many we liked the Rome tour in one day which was the one which had the most things elencate in the best guide of the best things to do in Rome.
As we arrived at Civitavecchia one of the most important ports in the Mediterranean, they announced to us that our bus was waiting for us on the dock. As we made our way to our bus we could see the Civitatours signs up and our bilingual tour guide waving hello. I was actually jumping for joy and Mark couldn’t stop laughing at me, “Buongiorno a tutti” was all we had learnt to say, we practiced at home before leaving, ahahaha.
We took our seats in the bus and listened carefully to our guide as she explained our day, and the top things to do in Rome thanks to our Classical Rome tour. Off we were to the eternal city, the Colosseum tours, so fascinating I love everything about Italy and Italians, so carefree people and joyful. A walking tour Rome was what I needed, after an hour we arrived, the bus stopped near the Vatican walls, with our camera and mobile phone in our hands we followed our guide as she lead us to St,Peter’s Square, “oh my God Mark, do you see what I see? St. Peter’s Basilica” it was bigger than I had imagined and more beautiful.
Love these Rome walks, the sun was shining and the weather was perfect, Italians all around us talking away and every word that came out of their mouth were like music to me. We returned on the bus to continue our Panoramic tour in Rome along the Tiber the main water course of Rome. Tiberine Island , the Pyramid of Cestius and the baths of Caracalla were divine. But what was to come was my dream, Rome Colosseum tour, we started the incredible walking tour Rome at the bottom of the largest anphiteatre ever built. Our tour guide was amazing she explained things so clearly and made our journey fun.
Mark and I were so happy and glad we decided to take this tour, our travelling friends were very nice and made the walk even more enjoyable. We were all taking so many pictures and selfies , as we passed by anything that said Roma. From the Imperial Forum we headed off to Venice square, and then I noticed Mark freeze in the middle of the sidewalk , there it was in front of us in all of its glory the Altar of the Fatherland, Rome walking tours could not have gotten any better ,so far it was the TOP of the tours, but yes it was going to get better because we were about to see the most famous barouque fountain ever built and I was going to make a movie like wish by tossing a coin in the fountain. We closed our eyes and made a wish , what a wonderful sound that the coin made once it hit the water. It was lunch time and we couldn’t wait to go and sit down amoung Italians and eat a delicious plate of pasta with a good glass of wine. Absolutely divine, and to make it even more perfect an espresso coffee.
As I turned around I didn’t see Mark, what captured my attention was the cheering of some Italian boys playing soccer, there he was just like a little boy playing his favourite sport , and singing the juventus song with them. Everyone on our group was cheering as he scored. I took my sweetheart by the hand and we walked freely towards the Pantheon, Navona Square, and the Fountain of the Four Rivers. Incredible so much history and so much beauty a day that we shall cherish forever had come to an end. Mark and I were extremely satisfied with the choice of the day tour with civitatours. Our drive back to the port was pleasant, we all talked about our day and thanked the tour guide for everything. We actually exchanged numbers with some of our day friends promising to see each other again.
Between many itineraries, the Classical Rome tour allowed us to visit the best places to visit in Rome. Thank you so much Roma for everything, a perfect tour and a perfect day.

Civitatours, Tarquinia as you have never seen before, this tour presents and reveals four Etruscan Heritage tombs
Michael and I have been wanting to take a trip to Italy for the longest time. We had planned on it last year but then found out that I was pregnant so we decided to postpone the trip. Not easy to travel with a little six month old baby but we planned it out well. We looked into several tours and found the perfect Tarquinia dream tour, one of the tours offered by Civitatours, a private tour from Civitavecchia to Tarquinia Italy.
Finaly we found what we were looking for a comfortable relaxing and very interesting tour, that we could easily enjoy with our baby girl. As we approached Civitavecchia Michael and I stood on the bridge and were amazed at all the beauty in front of us. Wow the Tarquinia tour is going to be amazing. Took the baby and the stroller down to the dock. We approached the bus that was waiting for us, we were welcomed by the civitatour signs and our lovely bilingual tour guide. They were so kind as to assign us front row seats so that the baby would be comfortable. Such a wonderful attentive service, happy to have choosen tour Tarquinia with Civitatours, our destination was Tarquinia a dream come true.
Once we started towards our destination our tour guide was explaining the, Rome Italy tour, and what we were going to see. It was such a lovely ride, the baby slept all the way, so Michael and I had some time to actually relax before our big adventure, our private Tarquinia tour. Full of excitement we finally reached our destination the baby awoke and we were off, the guides at the artetruria association presented us with the four exceptional tombs, of the Etruscan heritage. We slowly made our way to lay our eyes on so much history, the tomb of the Bulls, the Baron, the Panther and the Augurs, were opened esclusively just for us, wow this Tarquinia day tour could not get any better, civitatour was a god sent. Michael and I were just enjoying everything because it was such a relaxing interesting tour, they were all so kind with us in regards to the babies needs.
We went on to discover their funeral paintings and traditions quite mysterious people. The most ancient tomb discovered so far was the Panther tomb, to the mythological representations of the bulls tomb. Our guides were so clear and patient with our questions. “Michael we need to change the babies diaper, can you please ask where it can be done?” as we changed the baby they all so kindly waited. Our tour continued with a walk through the heart of ancient corneto, the medieval jewel of the Tuscia region. They took us to a tower called “Torrione” and from there we admired the most impressive panorama, Michael was taking so many pictures of the baby, he was asking everyone on our tour group if they could take pictures of us as a family.
They were happy to help, laughing and cheering such a happy father on his first family trip. He was loving all the attention, love him so much and am blessed to have experienced this Tarquinia dream tour. Michael turns to the guides and in a incredible perfect Italian asks Quando si mangia? I looked over at him and was shocked ,perfect timing , we stopped and enjoyed an all tasting menu of the local food and wine. The day came to an end and we were heading back to Civitavecchia, I personally thanked each and everyone on my tour group for being so supportive and patient with the baby. We also thanked our bilingual guide of civitatour for such a memorable and relaxing experience. This will not definitely be our last with civitatour ,I highly recommend them on the stop over in rome from Civitavecchia for a day. We said our last goodbyes and waved as we boarded the ship.

Civitatours will have you discover and experience Rome on a panoramic bus with a skip the line to St.Peter’s and interiors
As we finally come to the end of our college graduation we had promised ourselves a trip to Italy. Along with my four college friends we decide to look into things to do in rome Italy. We booked our cruise and guided tours of rome and are headed to Italy. There were many tours to choose from and rome tours packages, we decide to go along with the rome classic tour and added the St. Peter’s with skip the line tour. Here we are, Rosa, Jack, Connie and myself, ready to create new wonderful memories in the eternal city of rome.
With the wind that accompanies us and music on our speaker we are approaching Civitavecchia. We are trying to be quite serious and not do our usual crazy happy fun things, but we could not help ourselves, we are headed to rome the city of the gladiators, and were so excited. On the dock as we came off the ship were our bilingual tour guides waiting for us with the civitatour signs. We have our seats assigned and we carefully listen to our guide as she explains the day tours in rome.
Oh my god we are loving looking outside at the country roads and the little Fiat 500 that calmly pass by. They announce to us that we are about to arrive after an hour of travelling, here we are in rome ready to do what romans do, have the time of our lives. Let the show begin. Jack and I high five and hope to finally see some beautiful Italian women. The bus stops at the Leonine walls and our walking tour rome begins, heading to St.Peter’s square and its famous Egyptian obelisk, we are speechless to the imposing St. Peters Basilica, nothing like in our history books,” wow, wow, wow” it was all we could pronounce. We choose the optional guided tour of its interior, the Vatican tours .
Everything inside the Vatican was unbelievable paintings, sculptures, maps, just incredible. After an hour and a half we return to the bus, on our way there, Jack and I were finally gifted with the sight of the most beautiful women we had ever seen, actually there was not even one of them that we encountered that wasn’t like a goddess. We continue our tours in rome along the Tiber on our panoramic tour. Connie is taking so many pictures that we all decided to have her take them all and then create an album on our rome tours.
With the priority option of the tour St. Peter’s with skip the line I was able to visit Rome through one of the best places in Rome: St Peter’s Basilica. If you’re looking for a guide to the best things to do in Rome, this one is certainly on every self-respecting itinerary for visiting Rome. The St. Peter’s with skip the line tour was such a blessing!
We pass by the Pyramid of Cestius and make our way the the baths of Caracalla, wow they were big baths, romans really treated themselves well, ahahah.” Look guys ,whats that? Is it what I think it is? The Colosseum” Rosa was going on and on and on, talking and jumping for joy, she thought she was going to meet her gladiator, we couldn’t stop laughing. This was the most amazing walking tour ever, romes history all there infront of us. The Imperial Forum, Venice Square, and the imponent Altar of the Fatherland.
I look over at my friends and tell them to get their coins ready we are about to see the most beautiful barouque fountain ever built, the Trevi Fountain. All four of us turned our back to the fountain made a wish and outloud exclaimed “one, two, three, roma forever”, and tossed the coin in the fountain. Finally the announcement that we were waiting for, it was lunch time, which meant pizza time! We enjoyed lunch watching the romans just loving life, Jack got his chance to finally say hello to a very beautiful girl, unfortunately when he finally got a chance to do so, we announced that it was time to go for a walk, he looked over at us and wanted to cry, Rosa and Connie were laughing and I pretended not to see his disappointment.
Snapping away and chatting we visited the Pantheon, Navona Square, and the fountain of the Four Rivers. This exciting trip unfortunately came to an end. We got back onto our bus and were headed to Civitavecchia. Since at this point we felt so Italian we decided to sing, O Sole Mio, thanking our tour guides and Civitatours for such an unbelivable experience and memories that we shall cherish forever. On our way up to the ship we waved goobye to our tour guides and our tours in Rome.
”Arrivederci a presto” .

What an incredible journey, Bill and I were simply enjoying everything along the way, taking in as much as possible, so much history and so much beauty in front just waiting for us. We follow our guide as they kindly and very professionally explain along the way the history. I was busy admiring some Italians as they so gracefully speak with their hands when I suddenly find myself in front of the most breathtaking monument I have ever seen or even imagined, the Basilica of San Pietro, the biggest and most famous church in the world.” Bill, am I dreaming? Can this be real? Can we really be here finally living our rome tour in one day? ” Bill just smiles at me and that was my answer.
We return to the bus and our guide continues narrating the history of the eternal city, as we drive along the main watercourse of Rome. Pass the Tiberine Island, the piramide of Cestius ,come across the second largest baths called Baths of Caracalla. We are headed to the largest amphitheatre ever built the symbol of rome, I have a little statue of it in my living room and seeing it live is fascinating and so different ahahah. As we passed by there was a very long line up for the mouth of the truth. We then continue our wonderful walking tour, I am in love with all that the Italians represent, the are so relaxed, joyful people enjoying their day in the warm sun under a roman sky.
We pass Rione of Sant’Angelo ,Capitoline Hill, and arrive at Venice Square. Once again we are amazed at the imponent Altar of the Fatherland. As our walk continues I tried to take in as much as possible, we took so many pictures not missing one single thing or moment because this is a one day tour of a lifetime. There it is the Fountain of Trevi a marvelous baroque fountain, Bill and I with a coin in our hand make a wish and toss it in the fountain just like in the movies. We now are free to enjoy our lunch, what a pleasant part of the day, I am craving a true plate of pasta with fresh tomato sauce and Bill desires his true Italian pizza. Panoramic restaurant Rome perfect, “ buon appetito Bill” , “buon appetito Mary” delicious wonderful. And to make it even more perfect our gelato, Bill was so attracted to two little italian boys which were playing soccer, that he completely forgot about his gelato which had completely melted, as he looked over to finally notice that his hand was completely covered in icecream causing our tour friends into laughing out loud, what a fun moment, abviously the heat in Rome is different than in Canada.
We admired the Pantheon, Navona Square, Fountain of the four rivers. How memorable, our tour had come to an end but my heart and Bills heart were full of joy, thanks to the panoramic tour of rome we had fuffiled our dream.
Between many itineraries, this one allowed us to be in the best places to visit in Rome and check most of the monuments present on the guide of the best things to do in Rome. Civitatours made it all possible. As we make our way to the dock I turn around and with a great big smile thank them all for the most precious day of our lives.
