Discover the pearl of the Mediterranean with us. We will accompany you on a tour of ancient Tarquinia that will take you back in time to the time of the Etruscans. The guides of the Artetruria association will revive the Etruscan necropolis before your eyes and will show you tombs usually closed to the public.
The departure from the port of Civitavecchia is scheduled at 10.15 am. As soon as you arrive in Tarquinia you will immediately reach the Etruscan necropolis, where the guides (extra cost) are waiting for you.
The tomb of the Bulls, the Baron, the Panthers and the Wishes will be opened only for you. You will be able to admire the oldest burial ever discovered until now. It is the tomb of the Panthers, embellished by the mural representations of two large black and red felines. By the way, did you know that the Etruscan word for tomb is “suthi”?
After visiting the necropolis, the tour of Tarquinia continues with a walking path in the medieval heart of the city considered an authentic architectural jewel.
You will visit the Romanesque-Gothic church of Santa Maria in Castello and you will overlook from the Tower of Matilde di Canossa, from which you can enjoy a wonderful view. Finally, you will stop in front of the frescoes of the Town Hall, where the historical and mythological episodes of the city are painted.
To reward your visit to the town, cradle of the Etruscan culture, we have thought of a tasting menu. You can taste the excellent local wine and traditional dishes prepared with local ingredients. The cost of the menu is € 15 per person and should be added to the price of the Tarquinia dream tour.
The departure from Tarquinia is scheduled at 2.00 pm with arrival in Civitavecchia at 2.30 pm.
To reach our Civitatours bus you can take the free shuttles at your disposal at the pier of your ship. We kindly invite you to arrive at the meeting point not later than 09.30 am. The bus does just one stop in Largo della Pace, where you will find our staff with booking lists waiting for you. You will easily recognize them by the Civitatours signs they hold.
