The departure of the Classical Rome walking tour is at 09.40 am from the port of Civitavecchia. After just about an hour and fifteen minutes of travel, the bus stops in Via Leone IV, next to the imposing Leonine Walls.

The guide will accompany you up until St. Peter’s Square and during the journey you will discover interesting historical and artistic details about the square.

Once arrived, you can start to visit Rome by admiring both the magnificent colonnade and the solemn St. Peter’s Basilica with its 133-meter-high dome.

After the stop to the Vatican for about an hour and a half, you will return to the bus to start the panoramic ride tour of Rome on board the bus.

The bus will take you from the Tiberine Island to the Pyramid of Cestius up until the Baths of Caracalla (the largest imperial baths of the Ancient Rome). The panoramic ride ends in Via Claudia at around 1.30 p.m. You will find yourself in the immediate vicinity of one of the symbols of Rome: the Colosseum. Here your walking tour of Rome starts again.

The guide will take you at the foot of the largest amphitheatre ever built. You will immerse yourself in the timeless atmosphere of these monument and you will almost feel like you can hear the shouts of encouragement to the gladiators.

Once out of the Colosseum, continue along the beautiful Via dei Fori Imperiali until you reach Piazza Venezia, where you can admire the Altar of the Fatherland, with its perpetual fire nourished over the centuries in memory of all the soldiers who fell in war.

After visiting the Altar of the Fatherland, you will continue along the Trajan’s Forum and then pass in Piazza della Pilotta, where stands the Pontifical Gregorian University built by Ignatius of Loyola.

At this point you will have reached the heart of Rome a few steps from the Trevi Fountain, where you can not escape the ritual of the three coins. After admiring the Fountain, you will have free time to lunch (a 30-minute break).

Once you have finished your lunch, your guide will take you to the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, embellished by the Fountain of the Four Rivers in the center, the Fountain of Neptune in the north and the Fountain of the Moor in the south.

At the end of this unforgettable walking tour of Rome, thanks to which you will have had the opportunity to see for yourself the best places to visit in Rome, the bus will wait for you at 4.00 pm in “Piazza dei Tribunali” (Palazzaccio). The timetable may vary slightly according to the departure of the ships. Arrival at the port of Civitavecchia is expected to take just over an hour.

The departure of the Classical tour of Rome is scheduled at 9.40 am from the Terminal Largo della Pace in Civitavecchia. We kindly invite you to arrive at the meeting point not later than 09.15 am.

Wear confortable shoes; tour not recommended to people with mobility issues

Mandatory dress code for the Saint Peter’s Church visit: women must have arms and knees covered, while men must wear t- shirt (no vest allowed) and have covered knees.

Saint Peter’s Church priority entrance and guided visit: by order of the Vatican the priority entry service to the Basilica is suspended on Sundays and holidays, while on Wednesdays the Rome Classical tour could suffer variations to allow the visit in the Church during the afternoon.
